Maritime Capsules - (Short Before Jon Imber's Left Hand)
Why do working-class people work so hard to sustain ways of life tied to dying commercial industries?  Maritime Capsules addresses this question through the eyes of a small group of people struggling to maintain an ancient rowboat as a vital piece of maritime culture in the shadows of the declining commercial fishing industry in Gloucester, Massachusetts, the oldest seaport in America.  Through the story of the Grand Banks Dory from the late 1800s to today, the film challenges us to reflect on what is at stake for working-class people as they struggle to sustain a key element of their heritage in a world increasingly inhospitable to it.

For the Love of Dogs - (Short Before Wicker Kittens)
Meet Cory: a brilliant and talented 11 year-old boy with an immeasurable wealth of knowledge and passion for all things dog. But Cory can barely hold a conversation with another person.  Cory was diagnosed with AspergerÍs Syndrome at four years old.  AspergerÍs Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication; appropriate social interactions are further confounded by restrictive and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.  This film dives into his world and depicts how it feels and looks like from the perspective of a child on the autism spectrum.  An inspiring, heart-warming story told through the eyes of Cory, his parents, therapists, and of course, his dogs. Follow Cory's journey from his visits to the local PetSmart, to the National Dog Show, and the 'Super Bowl' of all dog shows, The Westminster.  At these dog shows Cory faces one of the most difficult challenges for someone with AspergerÍs -- extreme sensory bombardment of sights and sounds. Dog Shows, traditionally held in convention centers, create a catastrophic noise blending thousands of barks, speaker announcements and conversations together.  Cory finds a way to deal with this obstacle and becomes embraced by this quirky, outlying society of ñdog people,î where his knowledge and interests are accepted and valued. Witness how a boy's passion for dogs has opened up his communication, allowing him to connect with the world around him. Soundtrack by the award wining band M83.

LIZ - (Short Before Little White Lie)
'Liz' documents the profound personal journey for survival of a young woman named Liz Leddy. Homeless at 13, Liz lived a tragic life of despair, raging behavior and a brutal fight to survive on the streets. Living in abandoned buildings on the waterfront of Portland, Maine, she battled alcoholism, an eating disorder, being raped, beaten, and a dark world of chaos. Eventually, her self-loathing led to daily thoughts of suicide. With raw grit and extraordinary conviction, Liz surrendered the struggle and found peace when she turned her fight to the boxing ring. She proved to be her own heroine in finding enough courage and strength to say yes to a new way of living. Filmed over four years, we follow Liz as she reclaims her life, from desperation, to a place of love, forgiveness and hope. Her dreams manifest as she becomes a favorite for competing in the 2012 Olympics.... the first time in history, women have had the opportunity to compete in the Olympic sport of boxing. Liz's story is an inspirational tale about a human being who awakens and relentlessly rises up through hard knocks, addiction, wins, losses, physical abuse, emotional abuse and self abuse to become an exceptional athlete and spiritually aware woman.

The Silkies of Madagascar - (Short Before to Hear the Music)
Silk weaving is a way of life in the rugged central highlands of Madagascar. The new 25-minute documentary, The Silkies of Madagascar tells the inspiring story of how a cooperative of talented village women have transformed their community and are preserving ancient traditions with the help of a Peace Corps volunteer and an international folk art market. The Silkies' story illustrates an important global trend. According to U.S. Ambassador at Large for Global Women's Issues Melanne Verveer, artisan businesses are the primary income source of people living in the developing world, second only to agriculture. Says the film's director David Evans: 'Financial Literacy coupled with opportunity for women in developing countries is going to change the world.'
